World Mosquito Day is Celebrated on 20th Of August every year. This day is also celebrated by The London School Of Hygiene And Tropical Medicine.
This day is Celebrated to make people aware about mosquito and malaria.
People should know about the symptoms and harmful effects of the disease caused by Mosquitoes.
The history of world mosquito day starts with the discovery of the reasons behind the disease malaria.
In the year 1987, Sir Ronald Ross,a British Doctor, discovered that the Female Anopheles Mosquito, are responsible for transmitting malaria to humans. He said that this is a serious disease.
WHAT IS A MOSQUITO:
The word Mosquito is derived from Spanish word, which means ‘Little Fly’. Mosquitoes have a slender segmented body, having one pair of wings, one pair of halteres, and an elongated Mouth part.
Mosquitoes belong to kingdom Animalia, Phylum Arthropoda, Class Insecta and Family Culicidae.
Mosquitoes have a three staged life cycle. First stage is Egg, second stage is larva, third stage is Pupa and the last stage is Adult. The first three stages are completely Aquatic. Each stage typically lasts for six to fourteen days.
DISEASES CAUSED BY MOSQUITOES:
Mosquito is an smal insect but it can be very harmful for you and your family. It can spread many harmful diseases to you.

This is a very serious disease caused by Mosquitoes bite. This is transmitted by the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. This disease is also transmitted by the water bearing containers, the vectors lay their eggs in those containers which are close to human habitat.
WEST NILE VIRUS (WNV):
This disease is a cycle between birds and mosquitos and then transmitted to mammals by infecting mosquitoes. The symptoms of this disease are headache, tiredness, aches and rashee.
Zika Virus is transmitted through the bite of an infected aedes agyapti and Aedes albopictus mosquito. It is also transmitted through sexual contact with an infected person.
PREVENTION FROM DISEASE CAUSING MOSQUITOES:
