Happy World Heart Day 2021 – 29 September 2021

World Heart Day

“The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart.”

World Heart Day is celebrated on 29th of September, every year. The World Heart Foundation organizes World Heart Day as an international celebration.

This day aims to ensure heart health equity for all men related to our health. In the world across 85% of diseases are related to heart diseases this day plays a very important role in many persons life.

The aim of celebrating this day is to raise awareness among people about Cardiovascular diseases, because these are the biggest cause of death. This day promotes the measures of reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. This day focuses on the global impacts of cardiovascular diseases.

Human heart is a blood pumping and circulatory organ. It circulates the heart throughout the body. The heart supplies oxygen and nutrients to the tissues  and removes carbon dioxide (CO2). The heart is the size of a fist. It’s weight is about 280 to 340 grams in mens. It’s weight in females is about 230 to 280 grams.

Humans have a four chambered heart. Two upper chambers and two lower chambers. The upper chambers are known as the atria, and lower ones are called the ventricles.

The right heart is the combination of the right atrium and the right ventricle, and the left atrium and left ventricle make up the left heart. Septum, is a wall of muscles which separates the two sides of the heart.

The heart has three outer layers. Epicardium, is the outermost layer, which is the inner wall of the pericardium. Myocardium is the middle layer that contains the muscle that contracts. Endocardium is the innermost layer that is the lining that contacts the blood.

The atrioventricular (AV) valves are made by the tricuspid valve and the mitral valve. The A.V connects the atria and the ventricles. The heartstrings, or chordae tendineae, anchor the valves to heart muscles.

The human heart functions in two ways, the pulmonary circuit and the systemic circuit.

In the pulmonary circuit, the de oxygenated blood converts into oxygenated blood. From the right ventricle the de oxygenated blood via the pulmonary artery, travels to the lungs and goes through the pulmonary vein to the left atrium as the oxygenated blood.

In the systemic circuit, the oxygenated blood converts into de oxygenated blood.oxygenated blood travels the left ventricle through the aorta and then enters the arteries and capillaries, and supplies oxygen and oxygenated blood to the body tissue. By re-entering the heart’s right atrium, the de oxygenated blood to the venae cava, through the veins.

2020Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death on the planet.

There are many heart related diseases that we often call cardiovascular diseases.

  1. Arrhythmias
  2. Marfan Syndrome
  3. Cardiomyopathies
  4. Heart attack
  5. Heart failure
  6. Stroke
  7. Congenital heart disease
  8. Coronary artery disease
  9. Cardiomyopathy
  10. Heart valve disease

This is also known as Abnormal Heart Rhythms.when the heart goes out of the rhythm then it is called as irregular heartbeat or arrhythmias. This disease can bring your heartbeat uneven or heart beats too fast or too slow.

This is an aorta disease. This can result in hardened arteries, High blood pressure,Connective tissue disorders, back pain, etc.  It can be treated by surgery and medication.

This disease is also called enlarged heart. This is a disease of heart muscles. The patient will have an unusually big, thick, or stiff heart.it is caused by high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, metabolic diseases, or infections.it needs proper treatment.

Heart attack occurs when the flow of blood is stopped or blocked by something and the heart can not get proper oxygen. Myocardial infarctions is another name of this disease. The symptoms of heart disease are very simple such as Discomfort, pressure, heaviness, tightness, squeezing, or pain in chest, vomiting, or dizziness, anxiety, or shortness of breath and uneven heart beats.

The causes of heart attack are:

  • Narrowing of the arteries due to the coronary artery disease.
  • Blood clothing.
  • Excess of fat, proteins and calcium.
  • A spasm in the coronary artery.

Heart failure is a very dangerous disease. In this disease the heart does not pump the blood as strongly as it should pump. In this disease the body swelling and shortness of breath occurs, because the body  has to hold in salt and water.

When anything blocks or slows blood flow in the brain then the disease is called stroke. Due to stroke the brain can not get the sufficient blood. Due to which the brain cells stop working, and any part of the body can be workless. The reasons for stroke are a blocked artery or a leaking or burst blood vessel. The stroke could lead to death of the patient.

This disease occurs before the birth of the person. This disease is of one or more parts of the heart or blood vessels. The reason of this disease could be:

  • Genetical.
  • exposure to viral infections, alcohol, or drugs before birth.

Arteries give the heart sufficient oxygen and nutrients. This disease is the narrowing of the arteries. In CAD the plaque builds up and hardens the arteries. This is also known as atherosclerosis.

This is a heart muscle disease. In this disease the heart becomes abnormally enlarged, thickened, and stiffened. This disease could lead to heart failure, because in this the ability of heart muscles to pump blood is less efficient.

Mitral valve prolapse,Mitral valve insufficiency,Aortic stenosis are examples of heart valve diseases.

In Mitral valve prolapse the valve between the left upper chamber and left lower chambers does not close.

In Mitral valve insufficiency the blood leaks backward, leading to fluid backup in the lungs. This is because the mitral valve of the heart does not lose tightly that is needed.

In Aortic stenosis the aortic valve narrows, which results in the slow blood flow from the heart to the body.

Heart diseases are very dangerous for everyone. To lower down the risk of cardiovascular diseases there are many ways. Here we have mentioned some of them.

  • Manage diabetes.
  • Do not smoke.
  • Do not consume alcohol.
  • Reduce or manage stress.
  • Take proper and enough sleep.
  • Regular physical work and exercise.
  • Take a healthy diet.
  • Control your weight and have perfect or at least healthy weight.
  • Reduction of fat.
  • Control cholesterol level.
  • Control the triglyceride levels.
  • Controlled blood pressure.
