26th of August is observed as women’s equality day.  This day is celebrated to commemorate the passage of the 19th Amendment in the United States of America that provides equal rights to women including the right to vote. 

This day was first observed on 26th of August  in the year 1920.

WHAT WAS THE 19th AMENDMENT?

This was passed by the American Congress, on 4th of June,1919.

The Nineteenth Amendment to the united states constitution, prohibits the states and the central government from denying the right to vote on the basis of gender or sex.

It was ratified on 18th of August,1920.

THEME FOR WOMAN’S EQUALITY DAY 2020:

The theme for woman’s equality day 2020 is “I Am Generation Equality: Realizing Woman’s Rights.”

“You educate a man; you educate a man. You educate a woman; you educate a generation.”

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT:

Women empowerment is the process of making womens independent, and fighting for their rights.

Women empowerment focuses on empowering the womens and making them suitable to be equal to the mens. The womens should get equal rights and benefits as the mens. 

STEPS TAKEN BY THE GOVERNMENT FOR EMPOWERING WOMENS:

There are many steps taken by the government and schemes passed by the governments to empower the womens.

MOTHER AND CHILD TRACKING SYSTEM:

This scheme was launched in the year 2009. The aim is to provide services to the pregnant women and their child such as pregnancy care, medical care during delivery and immunization.

PRADHAN MANTRI MATRITVA VANDANA YOJANA:

This is also known as a conditional maternity scheme. This program was started in october 2010. The main motto of this program is to ensure money to the pregnant ladies for nutritional and feeding purposes.

RASHTRIYA MAHILA KOSH:

This scheme was launched by the government of India in the year 1993. It is also known as the national credit fund for womens. The aim of this program is to provide the womens loans and give financial help for beginning and building small business.

DIGITAL LAADO- GIVING DIGITAL WINGS TO THE DAUGHTERS:

This is an initiative for girls to build careers and show their talents and skills by digital platforms.  

RAJIV GANDHI SCHEME FOR EMPOWERMENT OF ADOLESCENT GIRLS – SABLA:

This scheme was launched in the year 2012. The target of this program is to provide financial,social and nutritional help to girls of age ten to nineteen.

STEPS FOR WOMAN EQUALITY:

As the government has taken the steps to empower and give equal rights to women and girls,it is also our opportunity to give equal rights to the women.

Talking to girls and womens will help them to raise their voice. 

LET THE GIRLS USE MOBILE PHONES AND OTHER ELECTRONIC GADGETS:

Today’s generation is going digital totally. If we have to go with the time, we have to go digital. In some places womens and girls are not allowed to use mobile phones. They should use electronic gadgets to walk with the world.

STOP VIOLENCE:

Violence with womens should be stopped. And we should stand against the violence with the girls.

STOP CHILD MARRIAGE:

Child marriage is like a strain to our society. Child marriage distroyes the lives of the girls and could banish their future.

STOP SEXUAL HARASSMENT:

Sexual harassment is a reason, why womens do not express themselves. They get afraid of coming out and exploring things.

MAKE EDUCATION GENDER SENSITIVE:

There are many steps taken to encourage education, but it should be better. The textbooks should promote positive stereotypes.

EMPOWER MOTHERS:

Empowering the mothers will help in building the better future of their child and the nation. Empowered mothers will make their child empowered and independent.

GIVE PROPER VALUES OF WOMEN’S WORK:

The womens should get equal opportunities and values for their work as the mens. They should get the proper and equal money for their work.

Answer to this question is that feminism is the equality of both mens and womens, giving true rights and equality to the womens and girls. Feminism is all about females and their rights.
