International Literacy Day

8th of september is observed as the international literacy day. International literacy day is an opportunity for the government and civil society to highlight improvements in world literacy rates.
This day also reflects the remaining world literacy challenges. The issue of literacy is a key component of the UN’s. It was celebrated for the first time in 1967. Its aims are to promote and support the development of literacy and skills, universal access to quality education and learning opportunities throughout people’s lives. International Literacy Day is to make people aware about the importance of literacy for individuals, communities and societies and the need for intensified efforts towards more literate societies.
On 26th of october 1966, UNESCO announced 8th september as the international literacy day, at the fourteenth session of UNESCO’s General Conference. The aim was to highlight the importance of literacy and education for every individual.

Literacy is the ability to identify, understand,explain,communicate,create,read and write any printed and written material.
TYPES OF LITERACY:
Literacy is mainly of eight types. Those are as follows:
1.Reading and Writing Literacy
READING AND WRITING LITERACY:
Literacy is mainly about reading and writing. These two can be remembered throughout and could be practised regularly. Reading and writing literacy is not just about reading or writing any letter or sentence, it is about expressing and understanding what you read and write.
Numerical literacy is all about using mathematics terms and numbers in everyday life, solving problems, using logic,checking answers,etc. It is about using numbers to solve financial problems.
Health literacy is very important for our health. It is a type of literacy which is essential for medication and consulting or communicating with doctors. Health literacy could help you in maintaining the diet and being healthy.
Media literacy is about understanding the terms,topics,issues,and headlines going trending in the media,television,newspaper,etc. It is about understanding. It is not necessary that you think what others think. They could think differently.
Digital literacy,as the name suggests, is about going digital. This is the time where everything goes digital. So having knowledge of digital things is very important. You should have a good side in digital literacy.
Financial literacy is about understanding the financial problems,recovering from them and beneficial things in finance. Financial problem solving ability is very important for your financial condition and it has better career options.
Emotional literacy is the ability to understand anyone’s emotions. If someone is sharing their emotions with you, then you should behave well with that person according to their emotions,it could be happy,sad,love,hate or anger. Physical literacy is about how you behave in front of someone,like how you are standing,sitting,eating,laughing,sneezing,etc. This is very important to have emotional and physical literacy.
