“FOOD” is very essential for everyone. If we do not get food we can not survive. We do everything for food.
WORLD FOOD DAY is celebrated on 16th of October. It is celebrated because on this day the Food And Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations was founded in 1945.
The World Food Day was first celebrated in November in the year 1979, at the FAO’s 20th General Conference.
The World Food Day celebration includes marathons and food marches every year. This day is celebrated in around 150 countries. The World Food Day is celebrated with different themes every year.
On the first World Food Day, the theme was “Food Comes First”.
FOOD AND AGRICULTURE ORGANISATION (FAO):
The Food And Agriculture Organisation (FAO) was founded on 16th of October in the year 1945. It is an international organisation that works for no hunger in the world.
The main Aim of FAO is to deal with hunger issues in the world,by ensuring that the countries have the sufficient amount of good food,sufficient nutrition and the agriculture methods.
The Headquarters of the FAO is in Rome, Italy. The Food and Agriculture Organisation has 194 members and two associate members.

Food is anything or substance that is consumed for getting nutrition and being alive. Food is the first need for life. We earn money to get food. everything that happens is for food.
Food gives us essential nutrients for our body, like fats,carbohydrates,vitamins,etc.
The sources of food are:
Plants are the primary sources of food. We get cereals,vegetables,grains,fruits,etc, by plants.
Plants not only provide food for humans, it also provides food for the animals.
The plant eating persons are called vegetarians or herbivores.
The animals are another source of food. They provide us milk,curd,meats,eggs,etc.
The animal eaters are known as non vegetarians or carnivores.
TYPES OF FOOD THAT BODY NEEDS:
Food is of many types. We have to think about what is the right type of food that is good for our body.
Mainly food is classified into seven types. Those are:

- Dairy Products
- Meat,Fish And Eggs
- High Sugar Foods
Drinks such as Water are essential for survival everyday. The experts say that 1.5 litres of water is must for every day for a person. Water should be consumed limitless because all our body needs is water. Eighty percent of our body is meant with water. The athletes should consume more water as compared to the normal human being because they get more thirsty as they work and exercise for so long.
The source of energy for our body is carbs. It should be consumed everyday twice. The source of carbs is pasta,potatoes,wheats and legumes. Legumes are rich in plant proteins.
FRUITS AND VEGETABLES:
Fruits and vegetables are rich sources of nutrients. One should consume fruits and vegetables in every meal. Vegetables can be consumed raw as salad or can be cooked as a dish.
The dairy products include milk,bread,cheese etc. the research says that adults should consume at least 3 dairy products every day whereas others should consume at least 4 dairy products everyday. Cheese should be avoided because it has lots of fats.
MEATS,FISHES AND EGGS:
Meats ,eggs and fishes are rich sources of minerals,nutrients,fats and carbohydrates. The doctors suggest to consume these twice a week.
Fats are consumed by vegetables oil and butter,etc. Fats are of two types saturated and unsaturated. Fat containing food leads to weight gain.
HIGH SUGAR FOOD:
High sugar foods are suggested not be consumed. They are not necessary for our daily diet,but we should have some amount of it because it brings pleasure and reduces the stress.
